This week has been really busy! A lot of people think that missionaries aren't busy in quarantine but we are actually quite busy!
Tuesday we got a Winter snow warning (nor'easter) and we were told that we couldn't drive on Wednesday. But Tuesday we had service and it had rained all night Monday so the roads were a little slick. I was pretty nervous about driving because we drive a 2020 Equinox and I don't want to wreck it! So we said a lot of prayers before and after we got in the car and miracles happened because we passed 3 pretty bad car accidents due to ice and watched one happen behind us. Our mission is labeled 2nd worst for driving in the USA and boy do I believe it! But we got to our service project safe and sound! We also met with Kiran and he told us it was okay if we read the Book of Mormon if it helps us cme closer to Christ!!! We also met with the Saunders and they had a lot of questions that we were able to help answer for them, they are amazing!
Wednesday was pretty bad. We had a really big storm come through. First it was snow, then freezing rain which apparently means ice storm here, then back to snow. The wind was howling all day and a good chunk of the night too. I'm used to wind but the ice storm was hitting our windows pretty bad and I got pretty nervous about it. But I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and I went right to sleep after I prayed for safety!
Thursday the storm was done and it left the trees covered in ice, it was so pretty! We had interviews with President Duckworth. They were short but good!
Friday we went and served at House of Mercy in the food pantry again. We had so much to do and it was so fun! We put food in the fridge, wrestled a big piece of meat from the freezer, and helped organize the pantry. I LOVE organizing! Because our interviews with our mission president are over zoom again, Sister Duckworth called us because we don't get to talk to her very much anymore. It was fun and she got after us a little for not taking enough breaks, we don't have time! We also met with a member family, the Banks, and they have so many nativities from around the world that we got to see over zoom!
Saturday we spent a lot of time working on Facebook. But we also had a lesson with Kiran!! He is doing so well! He is coming to accept the Book of Mormon and let us read from it with him where as before he wouldn't even let us bring it up! It is so neat to be able to see his heart get softened!! However, he does not like Christmas and that was a fun mini-rant to hear about...
Sunday we had a lot of member visits and were able to get a few more less actives to start reading the Book of Mormon with us!
Because of the rising numbers of Covid, we can't have district activities anymore but they put us in groups of 10 or less with other missionaries in our zone. We went for a hike today at a place called Little Devil's Stairs. It was a lot of fun and we had fun taking lots of pictures!
We have met with Sister Makarenko a lot this week and she is progressing so well in the Book of Mormon!! She is having an easier time understanding and reading English which is something she was self conscious about at first. Being a missionary is great and I love being a part of this great work!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Sister Creager
