Merry Christmas Part 2

Hello hello all!!  It has been a very different week for us!

Tuesday we went to go get a hitch put on our car and it took 5 hours...  We were told it would take 30-40 minutes. So we did as much missionary work as we could from President Duckworth's office and then went and got our car to go home. They had given us a temporary car to drive so we could wait at the mission office and the brakes did not work well at all! Our car has very very touchy brakes and with the Corolla that we drove, I had to slam on them to get us to slow down.  It made me a little nervous because there was also ice on the roads.  But it was fun to talk to the office couples and we got to pick up our mail early! We got to meet with Sister Makarenko and she decided she wants her daughter to get involved with the church more so we got to help her come up with some ideas. She also finished the temple prep classes so she gets to go to the temple soon!!!  We also FINALLY got ahold of our friend Jim.  We got to share a Christmas message with his whole family AND we found out they are related to some other members in our ward.  Side story, we called Jim's brother to ask if they were members and where they lived because we thought Jim might be out of our area.  Well his brother told us Jim was out of our area but when we told him we had met with the whole family he said "Really? With my brother?  He let you meet with his whole family?" We thought it was pretty funny. But Jim's family also wants to meet with us again so woohoo!!

Wednesday we served at House of Mercy in the food pantry and we had a lot of donations come in that we got to weigh and put away. We also got to meet with a few members that night too.  Our ward put on a community nativity that was SO FUN!  They had different stations, so wise men at one, Mary and Joseph at another and so on.  We went through it twice and jammed out to music on my phone since we can't listen to the radio!

Thursday was soo rainy so for our break we went and danced in the rain! Our mission president also did a gift drive through for our whole mission so we went to a church building and got to wave at all the senior couples standing in the rain and then see President and Sister Duckworth at the end where they gave us a cute little bag. We met with a member, Brother Hashtroodi, and guess what! He LOVES horses too!! We got to connect over that and then we invited him to come back to church, he said he would come if his dad's caretaker came to take care of his dad in time. We also called a lot of people and wished them a Merry Christmas.

Popcorn for the car ride

Friday we got to call our families then have a zoom call with the mission.  We sang songs and got to watch recordings of the lights at the D.C. temple and Temple Square in Salt Lake City Utah! It was so fun!  We didn't have any lessons but we still called people and I was able to start two conversations on Facebook.  President Duckworth allowed the members to drop off something similar to a care package for us on Christmas day as a one time thing.  So we got that from our ward members at 5:30pm and it was so fun!  They gave us shirts with the ward name and a picture of our area on it.

Christmas dinner

Not very many people wanted to talk to us on Saturday so we spent a lot of time finding Facebook groups for our zone to join.  Same thing happened on Sunday.

But today we got to do another group activity.  We went to Manassas Battlefield and got to see a bunch of monuments and history facts of the Battle of Bull Run! It was a lot of fun!

I think that is mostly all for this week, sorry it's a little bit long!

Pictures:
I finished a puzzle that a friend gave me (it took almost three weeks!) We tried to finish the puzzle so we could have a place to put Christmas dinner (we didn't succeed)
Anyways, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great week! I love you all!
