Good morning!!
Wow!!!! General conference was incredible!! There were so many wonderful talks! It's so fun to be a missionary and listen to general conference because we were able to recognize the doctrinal points that we teach people in the talks and it feels almost like you have an inside on the talks. It's exciting! We thoroughly pigged out on junk food Saturday but Sunday the after-effects of being sick from junk food set in so we made an actual dinner of roast, potatoes, gravy, and rolls. It was so fun! It felt like home! I loved Elder Ballard's talk about how the Lord knows us and He knows our fears. I loved the encouragement to pray and the invitation made by the prophet to make sure we are worthy to enter into the temple. If you haven't had a chance to listen to conference, I would highly recommend it!
On Wednesday we had a goodbye call with the Caplins and a mission-wide family prayer. The spirit was very strong and a lot of the missionaries bawled because the Caplins were leaving. I was definitely one of them. A little bit of a recap, President Caplin has severe asthma and due to his medical problems the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve told him he had no choice but to go home. So Thursday morning they left for Utah. Thursday also happened to be President Caplin's birthday. Just to make it extra sad.
The Duckworths are our new mission president and President Caplin left us with strict instructions to welcome them into the mission and to heed their words and counsel. As part of the missionary leadership, we got to be some of the first to meet the Duckworths on the accountability zoom call last night! They are wonderful and I am glad they are here! They are very different from the Caplins but they are so kind! I know they will do much good for our mission.
We did a lot of service this week and taught our friend Rose. She is doing wonderfully and loves the Book of Mormon! We have been fairly busy with trying to figure out how to find facebook groups and learn how to teach from facebook. It's very strange but the Lord will always provide a way to accomplish what He asks of us!
We got asked to join a seminary class and play a game with them. Well the game was called "Stump the Missionaries." We were a little nervous for what was going to happen but we did that this morning and it was so fun!! Also we won. There were 6 categories to choose from and we had to do doctrinal scripture mastery which I was in high school four years ago and they have since changed the doctrinal scripture masteries! It was okay though because they were so impressed we found scriptures for the phrases they gave us that weren't scripture masteries that they gave us the points anyways! For those that don't know what doctrinal scripture mastery is, it's where youth memorize certain scriptures from the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price.
There are not very many pictures this week sorry! This is what we had for the first session of general conference, the temple recommend holder from the Caplins, and my mom sent me a cute package that had leaves in it so we put them up on the door!
Love you all!!
Sister Creager
