Hello! It has been such a good week here in South Riding!
So President Matos (counselor in the mission presidency) called us on Tuesday and asked us to be Facebook group specialists. We didn't know what that was for a little while. But what it entails is we look for groups to join on Facebook and we see how many members there are in a specific area and we send the group to the missionaries that has the most members in their area so they can message people and start gospel conversations. We haven't officially started looking for groups yet because we are still doing training on it but it goes against every safety conversation I had with my mom about friending and especially messaging random people on Facebook. But then again, we used to walk around and knock on random stranger's doors so it can't be that different! We are actually really glad to be doing this because we only have 64 numbers in our Area Book (contact book) so we can call everyone in about 2 hours. And yes, that's counting those who have blocked us. If we take out people who have blocked us, we probably have 30ish people that we can call.
The Caplins leave this week so we took videos of our district saying how they would describe the Caplins and what impact they had had on our missions. Sister Wiscombe loves to make videos so she is working to put it all together so we can send it into the Caplins.
On Friday we had in-person interviews with the Caplins and it was so wonderful to see them again!! We got to the church at 1:30PM and were told to start counseling together until the Caplins got there. Well, we finished counseling together at 3:30PM and the Caplins got to the building just before 4PM. There are 11 people in our district and we got done at 7:30PM. We had a lesson at 7:30PM so we didn't actually get home from the church until 8:50PM. We spent a loonnggg time at the church! But because we were last, the Caplins bought us all Chick-Fil-A, so we were spoiled a little bit.
Before interviews we got to serve at House of Mercy but instead of sorting clothes, we actually got to work in the food pantry! It was fun! We got to bag cereal and package diapers, sort breads, and all that. We had a lot of fun!
Saturday during our lunch break, we went over to a members house to let her trim our hair. That was a little scary because she wanted to practice on us but she hasn't trimmed anyone's hair for 10 years. Sister Smith was the one who volunteered us. We said lots of prayers on the way over and turned out our member was nervous too so we prayed again! Since Sister Smith volunteered us, she got to go first! It took an hour but Sister Smith's actually looked pretty good! It's a little diagonal so she is getting it evened out today by a salon but Sister Wiscombe and I both got really even trims! Our member was so excited she kept giggling and telling us how much fun it was to trim our hair so we were glad we let her do it.
Yesterday we had our recent convert, Brother Tobias, give a talk. But there was a mix up. He thought it was at the church but it was actually over zoom so he called us right as they announced his turn to speak and so we jumped on the zoom and explained that Brother Tobias wasn't even on the zoom meeting. Then Brother Galbraith said to have Brother Tobias drive over to his house to join the meeting because it's like 3 minutes from the church so Brother Tobias did. While he was doing that, the bishop called on us to bear our testimonies. It was a little crazy for about 10 minutes. But it was all good! Brother Tobias did a good job!
I think that's it for this week!
I love you all! Have a blessed week!
Sister Creager
