Hello everyone!!
This week has been sooo great! Wednesday we got to do service and we were so excited and a little nervous too. We went to a Catholic church and helped them prepare food boxes and load them into people's cars. We still had to be in proselyting clothes and I made the mistake of wearing closed toe sandals and a dress. I'll tell you why it was a mistake in a minute. The project was really fun and we worked 3 and a half hours. We spent a lot of time organizing food into boxes and the last 40 minutes we were there, we would put the boxes on the tables and try to get everything ready to go. Because it was so hot outside, we left the bags of produce in the kitchen so they didn't wilt. Well because we were outside and the produce inside, we forgot about it as we were loading this lady's car! The lady in charge asked us to catch her so we dashed outside and she was already halfway across the parking lot. I decided I probably couldn't catch her and turned back around but then I changed my mind because she was going slow. We were working with another set of sisters so I yelled "Sister watch me!" and I took off across the parking lot as fast as I could go. Well when I yelled to the sisters for one of them to watch me, they all came running outside and thought I was a little crazy. I was running so hard my shoes were falling off and my dress, well let's just say it was up a little higher than it needed to be. I managed to catch up to the lady and we gave her the produce. Two of the sisters had grabbed it and were bringing it to her while I was running to catch her. On the way back across the parking lot the sisters told me that I had almost looked like I was flying and that it was very strange but funny to see me running in sandals and a dress. I kind of thought to myself "If you think that this is strange, you should watch me chase a cow in high heels!" But I had fun so that was that!
I have been craving rhubarb pie for about two weeks and Sister Jones has never had it before! Last Monday we went to three stores before I found Rhubarb. We made a pie and she loved it! I had leftover rhubarb and strawberries so I made a little jam because why not?
Back to Wednesday again, after the service project we got to have district council in person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was soooooooo excited!! I forgot how much I love teaching in person even if it's just a role play! I haven't been able to play the piano for a long time now so when they had me play a closing song it didn't sound too great. The first verse I actually couldn't see the last 3 stanzas because of my mask so on the second verse I tugged it down a little and I played way better! But Wednesdays are officially my new favorite day! I love them! It felt so good to be normal for a little while!!
Something funny happened today. So if you want to leave your area and go to another area inside the district, you ask the district leaders. If you want to leave the district, you have to ask the zone leaders. Well last week we asked the zone leaders if we could leave the district to get rhubarb because no one had it and they said yes. Today we wanted to go to Walmart because it's so much cheaper so we asked the district leaders who said yes. That Walmart happens to be the same one that the Dale City Elders (our district leaders) and Quantico Elders (our zone leaders) go to so it's in our district. Quantico drives Dale City to go grocery shopping because they don't have a car. Well we knew we would have to be fast if we didn't want to be seen, even though we had permission, and we did an excellent job of hiding from the Dale City Elders when they walked into Walmart. Thank heavens for a mask right? But then, when we were almost done shopping, Dale City came around the corner and we just froze. They were like "Ohhhhh!! What are you doing?" We told them to not tell the zone leaders because we didn't want them to think we're constantly asking permission to leave our boundaries (even though we did have permission to be at Walmart). They said they wouldn't tell and we went to go grab the last item we needed. Well it took forever to find and we got a call 10 minutes later from the Dale City Elders telling us that the zone leaders were going to be coming into the store any minute so Sister Jones and I looked at each other and booked it to the check out. It was a good thing we did too because the zone leaders walked in just as were were checking out! We ducked down and watched them, then finished checking out. We very carefully hid behind the checkout stands by the door and looked to see if it was all clear, then ran outside to our car. They had only parked one row away from us and totally would have seen us if we had tried to come out any earlier! Ha, ha!
We taught Johannes this week a few times, he is amazing. He didn't want to read the Book of Mormon online so he went and bought himself a copy so he could read it! We love teaching him.
This week isn't a good week for pictures, the only one I took is the one of jam, sorry!
I think that's it! Love you all and miss you lots!
