Church in Person!

Hello all!

This week has been pretty full! So Wednesday we got to go back to the Catholic church and serve! I wore better shoes this time but I didn't have to chase anyone down. We were there for a couple of hours then we headed back.

If you remember a while back I shared my horse analogy, well on Thursday I shared it with the whole mission. I was pretty nervous but it went smoothly until the last few slides when the assistants couldn't get it to work haha. They fixed it though so we were able to finish!
Elder Tahi from my district told me that he felt spiritually fed but it also made him hungry, horse is his favorite thing to eat. I told him he couldn't have my horses.

Friday we always have a Book of Mormon institute class and the Caplins asked us to stay on afterwards. President Caplin has severe asthma and back sometime around May he was given the choice of leaving early to go home and be safe, or stay here and possibly die. He chose to stay here. But this Friday he announced that the Quorum of the 12 and First Presidency of the Church, met together and counseled about his medical situation. They unanimously decided to send him home 9 months early. The entire mission was crying when he told us they were leaving after the next transfer. I love the Caplins and I am so sad they are leaving. President and Sister Caplin were crying as they told us they were leaving and the missionary who said the closing prayer was crying and had a difficult time getting through the prayer. Sister Jones and I cried for a while after the zoom call. It's been a sad few days for our mission.

Saturday we had a lesson with Johannes and he is doing really well and progressing he really loves the Book of Mormon and is learning a lot from it.

Sunday we actually got to have in-person church! We were so excited all morning. It was weird seeing 10 or so cars in the parking lot at the church and then sitting 6ft apart. The one nice thing is that we are having a lot of less active or inactive people come back into activity from Covid-19 and we were able to have about 5-6 families who don't usually participate join and watch the livestream of church. It was so good to be back in the chapel for a little bit.

I think that's all for today. Pictures are of Sister Jones, me, Sister Kirk who didn't know she was in the picture, Elder Prince, Elder Butelle, my old comp Sister Lloyd and Sister Livingston.

Love you all!
