I don't have a caption today, so this is what it's going to be

Hello everyone!  How are you all doing?

This week has been fairly busy.  We got to work at Habitat again and put together a bunk bed! This time it didn't come with instructions or all the screws but we figured it out with some extras laying around.

Glenn is doing AMAZING!  He is such a sweetheart.  He joined the Institute class on Tuesday and loved it. He is so excited to get a calling in the church he can't hardly stand the wait!

We finally got to meet Sister Jolley this week!!! We are so excited to meet her. Our first pass of lesson she got put on date for March 20th. And the second lesson was the creation of her baptismal calendar. She is so excited and such a sweet lady. We are excited to teach her!

We also got to meet with Garrett this week.  He has a really hard time understanding priesthood line of authority and the apostasy.  So we went clear back to the beginning of Christ's mortal ministry and reign and went step by step through the Bible of how and why Christ's church fell and why a restoration was needed.  It's slowly starting to make sense to him.

We have a new friend named Blake. He is awesome! He plays college soccer and wants to go pro.  He is actually really close to going pro! Sadly, he just moved to a different state. But we are still going to teach him until we find his missionaries.  He is so nice and has a sincere desire to follow Jesus Christ and develop a relationship with him.  He hasn't had a lot to do with religion so he is very open to everything we talk about!

Sunday was insane for us.  We had about 7 hours of church and back to back lessons until 9:30pm last night.  However, I am really glad that we have so much to keep us going.  I believe we are better off than most in the pandemic because we have the work of the Lord to keep us busy!

I love you all! Sorry I don't have many pictures this week!

We were learning how to throw cards for a Facebook post we want to do and I accidentally got it caught in the light bar thing.

ET's, Baptisms, New Apartments, What's Next?

Hello everyone!!  This week has been literally crazy! My companion is telling me to skip straight to her favorite part of the week which would have been Saturday.  You better thank her because I wasn't going to tell all the deeds that were done on Saturday. So sit back and enjoy!

Okay, Saturday was Glenn's baptism!! We got to the church early to fill up the font, set up chairs, etc. Well we had remembered everything except to schedule with the building coordinator.  As a result, we had a man come in and tell us that there was a child baptism happening at 2pm.  We panicked a little bit because Glenn's baptism was at 3pm and we felt soooo bad! But they were fine with it and we ended up helping them set up for their baptism.  While they were having their baptism we went and got lunch then came back just as they were finishing up.  We got Glenn and Bishop McKeon into their baptismal suits, got everyone seated then proceeded with the baptism!  It was so awesome!!! The ward mission leader printed out these really cute programs, and Glenn was so excited!! We felt bad because the water was SO COLD!  He was shaking as he went into the font. Here is where Sister Livingston's favorite part comes in. I don't know who designed the font but whoever the heck thought it was a good idea to put a drain in that you have to pull up and twist in order to let the water out is dumb. We didn't want Bishop McKeon to pull the drain after Glenn got baptized because in the past it has been horribly loud so we got a cord and had him tie it around the drain and tape it to the side of the font after Glenn was done being baptized. You're probably thinking something along the lines of "Sisters, why did you do that?? It won't work!"  You'd be right. It did NOT work.  After the baptism and confirmation we were getting ready to clean up and drain the font.  Well the cord didn't stay taped, it was at the bottom of the font so Bishop McKeon grabbed a broom and started to drag the cord up the side of the font. I leaned over the glass to grab the cord but it took 3 tries for me to grab it and Sister Livingston holding onto me because I didn't want to go headfirst into the font.  I got the cord and passed it to bishop and he tried to jiggle it so that it would turn the drain.  Well that was his undoing because he leaned over and we heard a splash. We looked down and saw his phone sinking to the bottom of the font.  I will tell you this next part but in no way can you judge me!!
I freaked out when I saw his phone sinking and ran to the doors that enter the font.  I threw my phone and Sister Livingstons phone on the towels by the side of the door and ran down the steps into the water. Let me tell you, that water was FREEZING.  It took me two tries to get his phone because I wasn't expecting it to be that cold the first time I tried to get it.  Then we figured since I was already wet, I might as well pull the drain.  That took me three tries because once again, the water was freezing! You're probably wondering how high the water was, it wasn't quite to my waist, but when I reached down for the phone and the drain, my hair and mask got wet.  I ended up taking off my mask because I couldn't breathe with it wet. Everyone was laughing and taking pictures and videos of me in the font, I felt a little bit like an animal in the zoo but hey it turned out alright.  I had to change into a baptismal suit because I was soaked so that's what I wore home!  We conveniently ran into 4 people on the way up to our apartment and it was a little embarrassing.  So that is my story for the week and Sister Livingston has told and retold it about 4 times by now so I hope you all enjoyed it!
But Glenn's Baptism was incredible and he is so excited to start institute this week!

The rest of the week was pretty uneventful compared to that fiasco.  We did have emergency transfers on Friday, Sister Lungren got transferred because another sister was leaving.  That was really sad and not helpful right before our baptism!  But she was able to come and watch so it was all good but I am definitely going to miss her!!
We helped some other sisters move apartments yesterday because some elders were too loud and the neighbor requested sisters.  We spent about 3-4 hours helping them move and then today we helped them with transfers too so we've been on the go since Friday!

Out A Year

Hello hello everyone!!

We've had a bunch of lessons with Glenn trying to get him ready for his baptism this Saturday!! We are so excited and it has been a process to try and get him taught everything before it happens!  He came to church with us yesterday and that was so great! It was really hard to arrange though because we had a member go pick him up and the member got to his house and tried calling/texting him but wasn't getting any response.  So we called Glenn and had him stay on the phone with us while he got outside while also texting the member updates that he was coming out and anyways, he got to church! We gave him a Book of Mormon and he is doing great! He has his interview with President Matos tonight at 9pm! Pray all goes well for him!!
Side story, Sister Livingston asked me what time it was the other day and I looked at the clock which read 1:18pm and in my head I thought of Isaiah 1:18 and starting to recite the scripture.  I didn't get very far into the scripture before I realized what I was doing. My comps just laughed at me.

Okay Wednesday was my year mark!! Which is so sad!! And weird. We had a lesson with Garrett.  He asked about temples and family history and why "Mormons are obsessed with it".  It was fun to explain and he really likes the idea of proxy work.

Thursday we had surprise service.  We were an hour late because it was a surprise, oops.  They didn't care though. We got to work with and older gentleman, Dan, from the last couple food drives.  We had a fun time talking about horses and he rides Western!!  Most people out here ride English. Also I got sunburned.

Saturday we had another food drive that was supposed to take a little over 3 hours but there were a lot of people that showed up to help so it actually only took us an hour and a half! It was really fun!

Okay, yesterday. First thing to remember, yesterday was fast Sunday. We got another snow warning Saturday and our cars got grounded again.  We were NOT happy! We had committed both Garrett and Glenn to come to church and we were afraid it was going to get cancelled again.  So we anxiously waited to hear if church got cancelled.  Two of our three wards cancelled in person attendance. But our YSA didn't cancel!!  We couldn't drive so we walked to church which wasn't going to be a big deal because it's only a little over a mile there and walking is kind of in our job description.  HOWEVER, there is this HUGE hill on 23'rd street.  We couldn't even get a good enough picture to do it justice.  This hill took us 15-20 minutes to get up! That's half the time it took us to get to the church building!!  We were DYING! We finally got to church, seated Garrett and Glenn, everything went great, they loved it and want to come again next week and we are walking down the stairs to leave when we get an email telling us that our cars are officially ungrounded. We were like "You have got to be kidding."  So we start walking home and realize we aren't going to make it to our lesson that's at 4:45pm.  So we rescheduled and got home 10 minutes before 5pm and just dropped to the floor.  We were scheduled to break our fast with Glenn and the AP's at 5pm so we called and Glenn didn't answer.  It was fine, we were already dehydrated, what's a little more time? 15 minutes after the attempted phone call our building fire alarm goes off and we were pretty confused and wondering if we should go outside or if it was an accident. Glenn called us and the AP's back 5 minutes after the alarm started going off and we had to answer!  We stayed explained our situation and stayed on mute while they prayed. While they were praying the fire engines are coming around our corner to the apartment we are in and we are just trying not to be irreverent. We ended the call after they were done praying and decided that since the firemen were here we were probably fine so we made dinner and ate because by then we were starving.  It was a good Sunday overall.
I love you all!

Snow!!

Hello everyone!!  It has been a busy week!

Okay, unlike a couple weeks ago, last Monday I made sure I was fully dressed before we had our lessons! I felt the need to report on that.

We had zone conference and interviews this Tuesday and Wednesday. It was so inspiring and helpful! We learned a lot about how to work with members better and get them more involved in the work.
We got a new friend named Glenn! He is getting passed off to us from other missionaries and he got put on date to be baptized in that lesson!! We are so excited for him!!  He is so sweet and has a sincere desire to follow Jesus Christ.

We also met with Garrett again!! We LOVE Garrett! He got the Book of Mormon we sent him and loves it! He wants us to tab his work stuff :) He wanted to come to church with us yesterday which was so exciting because we have been able to have church in person for the last while! But then Saturday we got told to go grocery shopping because there was a winter storm coming and our cars were grounded Sunday and Monday.  However, our building is like a mile away so we were going to walk to church so we could meet him in person and show him around but then church got moved to only online.  Can I tell you how disappointed we were??!?  But Garrett was fine joining online and he even dressed up for it!!!!  He totally looked like a member!!!  He even stayed for Sunday School and LIKED it!!  However, because he looks like a member he got called on to read and we freaked out because we had been so busy we forgot to tell people he wasn't a member.  But he was fine with it and liked being able to participate.  Ugh he's amazing!!!
We didn't go to Arlington this week because the weather was cold and below 45 degrees. Sad day.

Thursday we got another sweet girl passed off to us, Tayler, she is extremely shy but she really wants to know more about the Book of Mormon so we are excited to start teaching her!

Okay so Sister Lungren showed me a cool trick.  When you stick a little chip bag in the microwave (empty) and microwave it for 5 seconds, it looks like lightning and is SO COOL! Don't worry, we only did it twice because it occurred to us that it might not be to safe to do that.
Yesterday was insanely busy!!  We had 5 hours of meetings and it was exhausting!  But it snowed!!!!!!!! We were so excited and as soon as we were done with our meetings we ran outside for our break to play in the snow.  We had a fun time building a snowman which didn't last very long, it toppled, and we had a snowball fight.
We also had another lesson with Garrett last night about baptism and the priesthood.  We read 3 Nephi 11:22-26 and explained that Christ had given us three instructions when getting baptized: It has to be by someone holding the priesthood, there is certain phrasing for it, and it has to be by immersion.  We asked him if any of that was familiar to him.  He said the only thing that stood out was baptism by immersion because he was baptized by immersion.  He asked why it was important to have the priesthood so we took him to Matthew 16:19 and explained that when baptism isn't done by proper priesthood authority, it only lasts for this life.  He really wants to make sure that his baptism is valid and was done correctly now which is incredible because there are so many blessing from baptism and the priesthood! We are going to teach him about the Holy Ghost next time!

It was a fun week and I look forward to next week! I love you all!!
