Rubber Ducky, You're The One

So, lots of funny stories this week! When I aim to be obedient I do great, but then I struggle after that. But I have tried hard this week! So for the run-ins there was a huge spider in our dorm, we pranked our teacher with rubber ducks, we got in trouble for racing with the rolly chairs, Elder Neu (new) jumped me (not really, well kinda) and a few others...
Okay the spider, we were all ready for bed when Sister Macbeth freaks out because there is this HUGE spider crawling towards her open closet door and I mean this thing was huge so we were all screaming "Kill it!!!" Well it's like 3 min later when the sisters next to us burst into the room with flip flops in hand to kill whatever we were screaming at but Sister Claypool killed it thank heavens. We almost died.
So our teacher is nice but he can be a little stuck up and it doesn't help that he is this scrawny little guy. So it's really hard to listen to what he says because he kinda lords over us and we all don't like it. It's also funny because he enunciates hardcore and there's this little spit zone that we all steer clear of. Especially with anything that starts with a "C, S, CH". Anyways, Elder Kirkman got about 50 little rubber ducks so we all took them and anytime he spat out a word that started with C, we all squeezed our little rubber ducks that made a noise. He was pretty confused. And it took him the whole 3 hours before he figured out it was us. But oh man it was soooooooo funny! You hear him say something like "choose" and then you would hear 12 rubber ducks. But we only did that for one day because we thought it would be mean to do it more. It was still funny though.
Okay, so we had a break in class and there is this big long hallway in the teaching center and they have the best chairs that roll so perfectly. Ugh I love it. Anyways, Sister Macbeth and I had a big long race down the hallway with the chairs, but our teacher said we probably shouldn't do that so we stopped.  So we were playing lightning instead of an actual basketball game because you know, no contact, anyways I shot and missed and my ball went behind me and Elder Neu had just shot and missed as well. Well when he grabbed his ball, he did a layup and accidentally jumped on my heel. But the bruise doesn't hurt and I was still able to play! It looks worse than the picture but it doesn't hurt.
So Tuesday was my birthday and man my sisters here are sneaky!! Monday they spent the whole day sneaking around with each other writing a card and getting me a necklace with the D.C. temple on it. Because we are insanely busy, it took them all day. They also got Elder Allen to write out my name on the card. Let me tell you, the guy is so sweet and so talented! They gave it to me early which was fun.
On my actual birthday, I hate it when people sing to me, its soooooo awkward but the girls next door came over in the morning and sang, then my district sang to me in class and dinner!! It was so awkward I slid down in my chair.

So we did a belly button video. It's a song from veggie tales and "belly  button" is the name of the song! I had the bright idea of suggesting we should do a dance to the song. I was just joking but Sister Macbeth choreographed a dance! We had a weird amount of energy for that little thing. But it was fun.

Okay I think that's it for this week so later!

Sneezing and Retainers

So this week has been interesting for sure. We (my companion and roommates) are all exhausted and are so tired when we get into bed that we start laughing at random things. Let me tell ya, some of the conversations we have at night are weird as heck! I can't remember what started the conversation the other night, I think we started talking about messing with our teachers by wearing funny socks (only solid color socks are allowed which is a little annoying sometimes) but we got a little overboard and started laughing hysterically at our ideas and poor sister macbeth started sneezing and laughing and couldn't stop. Long story short. She sneezed out her retainer and couldn't find it which sent us into another bout of laughing. We didn't get much sleep that night.

The food here sucks, the food in the vending machine tastes better.

Sister Macbeth had the brilliant idea to get "abs" while we are here because we have to workout. Pretty sure everyone hates her now that it's been four days since we got the exercise time. I can't even sit up in bed by myself now so that should tell you how out of shape I am.

One of the elders was bragging how if he wants to leave to go get McDonalds or go to Walmart he's just going to leave. The other elders were getting a little upset and he thought it was funny and kept pushing it and said that no one could stop him because he was an adult. I looked at him and told him he was really showing his true devotion for being here to Christ right now. He was embarrassed and apologized. So that was good. I probably should have been nicer but it was a little obnoxious and not really appropriate.

So when I first got here I was really excited to just be done and actually get to my mission. Well, we had to do role play in class and I suddenly realized that 3 weeks is not enough! I need more training! We have a non member investigator named Kersee. We taught her the first lesson on Monday and it actually went pretty well. It better have because Sister Paas and I spent about 5 hours on it! We realized we need to be able to plan a lesson in an hour or less.
Elder Martin is the funny one, Elder Sweetnum is a teddy bear and so sweet, Elder Lloyd always has something to say, Elder Allen and I talk about horses all the time but he's really insightful, Elder Davis knows the scriptures really well, Elder Kirkham is quiet but nice, Elder Neu is our district leader and everyone loves him because he's amazing, Elder English is always making sure everyone has what they need and that's all the elders in our district. It's awesome because the elders are so nice to the sisters and we all are really close. No one makes fun, but we all are supportive.
I have other funny stories but I hate long emails and this is already too long. Later!

Second day...Literally!

Hey all, so our P day is actually today and we are supposed to make sure we write so even though I've only been out one day I guess you'll have to suffer!

So when I got to my room it was set to 90°. I almost died. It was so hot I started to get sick, so when all my companions came in we set it at 65 and it's gonna stay there.

My companion's name is Sister Paas (pause) and she's super sweet. The other two are Sister Macbeth and Sister Claypool. We all get along great and we love our district. It's only us four girls among 8 boys. It's kinda sad because only one other elder is into horses! So we talk a lot which is fun.
The elders think it's hilarious I won't tell them my actual age and are determined to get it out of me but I don't think they have learned yet that I can be just a little stubborn.

So when you are starving the MTC food is really good, but after the first 5 bites it's nasty. Everything tastes like old freezer food that has gone bad. But I think I'll be okay to survive off of ice cream. Haha just kidding.

Anyways not much to say since it's just been one day.... but my intention is to learn how to be obedient and it probably wouldn't be great to fail within the first few days.

Bye!

The Beginning of a New Journey

On August 24, 2019, McKenna's dad, who is also her bishop, helped her send in her mission papers.
A new and exciting journey began as she opened this chapter in her life!
We will be forever grateful for her choice and courage-we know it was not an easy one as she would be required to leave behind her "babies"-but once she set her mind to it there was no turning back! She was ready to go!
On Wednesday, September 11, we gathered together
with her family and friends and watched as she opened her call to the....
WASHINGTON DC SOUTH MISSION!!
This country girl was headed to the big city!!
Surrounded by family and friends, she received her endowment on November 9, 2019 in the
Idaho Falls, ID Temple.
She spoke in church about loving your neighbor on January 12, 2020 and had tons of support from
dear family and friends.
(We'll never forget getting stuck in the driveway on the way to church due to an enormous snow storm and being rescued by our neighbor, Cortney Jones!!)
After church we stuffed ourselves with delicious food then that afternoon, at 4:00 PM,
she was set apart as a missionary for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
That night we celebrated her birthday early,
since she would be gone on the actual day of her birth.
The following Wednesday, January 15, 2020,
we dropped our dear girl off at the Provo MTC and her
adventures began!  We love you McKenna!
